I am in such a panic, I really need some advice and would be so grateful for your help. I start a new job tomorrow (had been commuting 90 mins each way in old job) which is much closer to home, less hours and less stress for just about the same money. I got my last payment from my old job today, and they've only paid me £550! I knew this would happen, they are such a mickey mouse company and have got it all wrong, was expecting the usual £1250. I think it's because not long before I left I had two weeks holiday? Who knows, have asked my friend to send me my payslip to see exactly where it's all gone.
Basically I haven't even got enough to cover all my bills let alone my CCCS payment that goes to all my creditors. Monthly bills are £550 each (me and partner) and that covers all food, rent utilities etc. We generally put too much in to cover unexpected charges. My CCCS payment is £429 a month, though I feel I need to look at this as my salary has decreased in the new job. So I can only put a portion of the bill money in the joint account for now...FRUSTRATING thing is I just tried to cancel the SO with my bank Alliance & Leicester and I can't as it is due out tomorrow, so I know they will charge me £34 for the privilidge of there not being adequate funds in my account. It makes me so angry they charge you when it's transferring between my own two accounts!
So I don't know where to start...do I ring my creditors and say there will be a delay in payments this month and discuss lower repayments while I'm there? I do have a 2nd job as a Party Organiser for Ann Summers, although it's not a guarenteed income I do quite well out of it and have a few parties lined up this month, will earn £60-£80 each party. My other half is pretty skint and won't be able to help out, we got engaged 2 weeks ago and he has bought me a fabulous ring that I know wasn't cheap, so am feeling guilty for his skintness too.
Sorry for babbling but any advice would be great, thank you.

Hi Loopy Laura,
Regarding your pay, are you paid in advance? When I left my old job I got paid as usual on the 15th but received a lot less than I was expecting as when we got paid on the 15th we were actually receiving 2 weeks pay in arrears and 2 in advance IFSWIM?
Regarding the dd, I am guessing that transfers between your A+L accounts happen on the same day? If the money goes out can you transfer it back in ASAP so that you don't get charged? Or will they just not pay out the dd and charge you for not having sufficient funds? Could you transfer some money from your bills account to cover the shortfall in your account?Saving for an early retirement!0 -
Hi Imelda,
I think I get paid a month in arrears, so my pay today should have been for the whole of July where I don't have any holidays at all. The Alliance and Leicester transfers do happen on the same day...but honestly they are the worst bank in terms of charging you as and when they please. I won't have sufficient funds in my own account to transfer to the joint account. So the transfer won't happen at all and I'll get charged! I suppose I could transfer money from bills account to cover the shortfall but even that would take 2 working days to register and be too late.
A+L banking is so sporadic in terms of transfer times and showing you what money you've got. Have champagne tastes...but got a beer budget!!:beer:0 -
Do you think your new employers would give you a sub on your wages to tide you over while you re-negotiate your payments and see if there's anything you can sell? You could then work out a real crash budget until you're back on track. Your travel expenses should be cheaper, which is something.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

ONe thing that might have happened is have you taken too many holidays pro-rata for your time there. If you have they will have taken that money off. Is that whats happened:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
