Converts out of use currencies

Hi all,

Not too sure if this is the right place for this so apologies if not.

I have some out of use currencies lying around (Belgium Francs etc) and was wondering if anybody knew of a way to convert into sterling?

Thanks in advance!

I think you aren't getting answers because there are no ways. I think the money you have is now out of circulation and has no value. Might be of interest to collectors after enough time passes?

I'm pretty sure charities still accept these coins, so they must have a value somehow.

Also take a look at cash4coins .co.uk I would not recommend using them, I just used them as an example of the coins being worth something to someone.

Maybe they get sold to the mint then get melted down to make new coins.

Generally speaking, if you were in the relevant countries you would be able to change them into Euros at that countries appointed bank. Usually the central bank but not always. Up until a few years ago each country maintained branches throughout the nation to allow people to change pre euro currency but now they only allow at one, usually head, branch.
