    I used to make lunches but in the last couple of months haven't had the motivation.
    I currently spend about £4 on average for lunch each day so 4 x 5 = 20
    20 x 4 (weeks)
    = £80 :(

    Think I might go make my lunch for tomorrow when I come off the computer! lol

    I always take lunch to work as we don't have a canteen.
    Usually take either sandwiches, pitta bread or tortilla wraps plus fillings of meat and lettuce (from garden) sometimes cucumber. An apple and banana sometimes other fruit like rasins, melon grapes or mango. The occasional packet of crisps but not that often I would reckon I spend between £15-£20 at the most a month on packed lunches. We have a water machine at work so dont bother with taking juice or bottled water with me.

    OK - I make my own sandwiches / soup and normally take a piece of fruit in so (following Jaymz pattern of calculation) I'd say:
    I get 10 sandwiches / loaf @ approx 50p* a loaf (* depends on where I shop) so 5p per day;
    Filling (normally tomato and cream cheese) approx. 20p
    Banana = 14p
    Per day = 39p
    Per week = £1.95
    Per month (4 weeks) = £7.80 :D

    Never worked it out like that before - well pleased.
    OH buys a fresh roll and a slice of meat (from the deli counter) every day which normally comes to about £1 a day :rolleyes: which would come to £20 per month.
  • I spend about £15 a month on ingredients for packed lunches (yoghurt, salady stuff, bread and fillings) and also sometimes manage to stretch meals for leftovers. Probably about twice a month we either have a work "do" and eat out or I forget and have to grab something on the way to work, and that probly adds another £12-£15! So it's sooo much cheaper for me to eat brought in.

    Well....I live with my parents....and pay them housekeeping...does that count? :D

    Seriously, I bought a pasty from Greggs on Saturday, so that'd be 60p. In the last 5 months. So about 12p a month. I love working from home ;)

    I find that I spend about as much when I make sandwiches as when I buy sandwiches (I'm a liker of expensive fillings) and I hate making sandwiches so the last couple of months I've been taking meal sized portions in to work with me for lunch (having made a big vat of something in the evening and freeze the rest in portion sizes for other days). Apart from the odd day when my colleagues have dragged me to the chipshop I've been doing this for about 6 months (thanks MSE mindset :))

    I agree this is very hard to work out because I tend to count it as free. Especially as I pay for the ingredients with our grocery money (shared between me and my bf) and my lunches (if I bought them) would get paid for out of my money. This might seem unfair but I do all the cooking so I think I deserve to get a few half price lunches out of it!

    Most of my lunches consist therefore of something and rice or a risotto so cost I imagine very little. I'm certain I wont be spending more than 20pcm and it might be as low as 10 if I don't go to the chipshop too much.

    I guess I'm lucky cos i don't have to pay for lunch when I am at work... or breakfast or dinner if I am on shift.

    Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
