1st anniversary

Hi all

My first anniversary is coming up in 2 weeks and I have no idea whatsoever about what to get OH. I was thinking that because it was paper, we could just get each other a nice card (I'm not 'big' on gifts - especially now i'm pregnant and saving for the arrival of the baby). However, last week he said he would be taking some money out of bank to sort mine out, and when I asked him how much, he said around £50.

I don't mind him spending the money, but I now feel guilty that I hadn't planned on getting him anything. He said he is happy with a card but I would like to get him something, even if its small!

Anyone got any suggestions?

Why don't you write a poem about your first year of wedded bliss, print it on card, roll it up and present it as a scroll? Done in a nice font you could have it framed? I took about 2.5 years to compose a poem for an anniversary for my OH, wrote it in a card and he still has it because it is personal and original - i.e. doesn't haven't to cost a lot!!x

How about making a photo book of photos of you and him since the wedding..or with photos starting from your wedding day onwards until now.. its not overly expensive and is much more personal..

I recently made one for my dad for fathers day containing loads of pictures of me and him doing our car racing days etc.. he absolutely loves it!
Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage!

This is very cute, and under £10.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

    I like the book!

I'm rubbish at poems so would really struggle with that one - and he wrote me a book of poems for the morning of the wedding, so wouldn't be original for me. Photos is also a good idea but done that before we were married for the anniversary of us meeting and don't have many pictures since the wedding. Both fab idea's, but don't think I could get them to work.

Its difficult, I think I may have to move away from the paper theme!
  • What about tickets to something..tickets are paper. You could get tickets to see a band he likes, a show, an exhibition or even the cinema- anything really whatever floats H2B's boat. We're not even married yet but this is my plan for my H2b's 1st anniversary gift. x

How about these personalised playing cards - they are rather cool!

Why not have a wallet of paper "I O U"'s?

    E.g. "I owe you a massive hug"
"I owe you a candlelit meal"
"I owe you a back rub"
    ?
Won't cost you more than the printing costs - and could be enjoyable for you both xx
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

    I second this idea!
my friend got this type of present for xmas off of her husband, one of the vouchers was for an "xbox free evening"
  • Ooooo I love that idea!!

I have pre ordered him the new xbox today, so that is part of his present (the paper receipt). I have given him that already though (cos I am crap with secrets), but I will definitely make up some IOUs!

Ooh I third the IOU's, you can buy an IOU cheque book online (not sure where, but if you Google it you should get some results), ranging from cute stuff like back massages to some quite risque activities ;)
