Using student loan as deposit for house?

I struggle to survive on the money i get considering i have to pay rent buy books get food etc and pay my bills and its not easy i dont have a council house so have to pay 475 a month rent and i just think its slightly unfair to those who are "struggling" and there is many this year then ever to have to struggle whilst she claims that she wants to save this money for a deposit on a house but is living in a council house which are as she has pointed out much cheaper then normal rents . I would love to be able to save money for my future don't get me wrong but i just currently cannot afford to .
I find it very difficult to get a job and more so at the moment due to the climate even mcdonalds sacked me because im a "risk" apparently
perhaps i have been a little harsh on the op , but i still think that council housing should be for emergencies and not a long term plan and if you can afford to save 6k then your not in an emergency.
I know I've just posted but i read this and thought it was a bit unfair tbh... I'm a student too and money has been really tight this year - I don't think there is a huge problem with this girl living in a council house, for one, we don't know where she studies and not all cities cost £475 for one person. My room (in a 3 bed flat) atm costs £215 per month and I know a 2 bed can cost about £500 where I live. That kind of money is hard to cover when you are the only person in the flat paying rent. This council flat takes the rent down to something much closer on what you would pay if you had a choice in getting just one room in a flat share and I don't hold it against the council for your low rent, because it means you do get a decent flat for you and your kid. I imagine the major drawback is merely that you have to live where the council say, rather than in a flat of your choosing perhaps closer to campus.
Don't get me wrong - I'm incredibly jealous of the fact you can afford to save your loan but I do note that you say you work hard so I think it's fair. I know a lot of spoiled daddies girls who take loan, put it into a savings account and let if gather interest because it can mean they make a healthy profit on the loan, even after the interest is added! But you are not one of these and I actually think it a bit admirable that you seem to be pushing against the stereotypes we constantly get thrown in our faces about young mums on council estates that apparently never get anywhere!0
