Looking for a washer dryer please?

Hi my daughter's moving into a new house next week and we'd like to buy her a washer dryer for about £400. As usual we want the most for the least money
We're a bit stuck on which make to buy as I've always and only ever had Hoovers.

Without wanting to sound negative, we bought both our DDs a washer-dryer when they first left home and BOTH of them were changed within the year for a separate washer and dryer, even though they take up so much more space.
I haven't got one good word to say for washer-dryers I'm afraidThe ones we bought were a Hotpoint and a Zanussi.
Incidentally, DD1 has had her dryer put in the garage because there wasn't enough space in the kitchen and actually prefers it as it's so much less noisyI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I would avoid Beko very cheap and you get what you pay for. I have a Zanussi although i have had this for some 7 or 8 years with no problems i was talking to a family run businessman last month and he said the Zanussi you bought all that time ago may not be so reliable now but although he did not stock this make anymore might have been guessing.
The best i have heard of are the German make think it's spelt Meile but they are around £700 but will last for ages, so I'm led to believe. so if you can streach it that is going to be my next my0 -
Thanks, I've always had washer dryers without much problem, though I generally do any repairs myself. I don't think we can stretch to £700 as we're having to buy every single thing between us all, carpets, curtains and tracks, everything... even a blooming lawn mower

I had a washer dryer and I'd never have one again. Better to have a washing machine with a high spin speed and a clothes airer if there's no room for a separate tumble dryer." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I had a hoover washer dryer once. It broke 5 times in it's first year, Comet eventually wrote if off and I bought a decent washing machine and a £50 dryer (pretty much brand new it was, too!) from the freeads.
Washer dryers, if you're washing for more than one person, just are not worth the hassle.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

I've had this Hoover washer dryer of mine for 3 years and it's never let me down so far, touch wood...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

My nan swears by them as well but I washed for 2 adults and 3 preschoolers at the time so as you can imagine a LOT of washing. Maybe it just couldn't copeMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

I've found a couple that look ok, just got a few more hours searching to do.
It took me 9 hours to find my fridge freezer but I saved £100 in the end so worth the work..
