just what I needed

Not posted much, but I have been reading a lot. Just getting things sorted with Payplan and this week the phone has been ringing off the hook. Its more stress than I need at the moment. I know Im in debt but Im taking steps to sort it.

Had the charming people from "Reliable collections" ring me this afternoon, and "strictly off the record Mr Rotoboy dont you think you should should have thought about spending money you didnt have" Well, no of course not, never crossed my mind! OF course I did, but strangly enough I had the money at the time!!

Of course he got very nasty when I asked if asking those sorts of questions was really any of his business and he then called me a debt ridden moron and told me of course it was his business.

Sorry, nothing you folks can do, I just feel really cr#p at the moment, and sort of needed to offload a bit, its a git this debt business huh?!

Hope to god all the calling stops when PP get the forms and get things rolling, cant honestly take much more, otherwise people on the phones are going to be abused, and it really isnt their fault :(

Personally, as soon as they start becoming rude, I would simply terminate the call. There's no reason for them to behave unprofessionally. I've heard many a caller push for more money without resorting to making nasty comments like that. Hope things even out for you soon.

Hi Rotoboy... Is there no way you can just ignore the calls and put your fone on silent when these agencies call?.. you really dont need that kind of stress.. and calling you a debt ridden moron is way out of line!.
Just where do these people get off abusing others in this way?. I am frankly disgusted when i read about the way customers are spoken to.

I hope things get onto a more even keel for you soon.

Get a (cheap!) answerphone and call screen, you shouldn't have to put up with rudeness!

Hi again Rotoboy, you can request that they stop calling you and only communicate in writing... If the calls continue, send this letter here.. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=33792321&postcount=39 its from Never-In-Doubt's thread.

I am shocked that these companies can verbally abuse people this way. How dare they call you a 'debt ridden moron'- talk about unprofessional and rude! Any way you can make a formal complaint?

I've actually called them stuff back and they've put the phone down on me. They hate it when you give them a taste of their own medicine.

This is the way they behave unfortunately. You could always say you are recording the call even if you aren't - they don't know that. I told one that and he put the phone down (how rude!) before he started having a go.

I ignored most of the calls - if it's someone you know, then they will leave a message if they want you and you can call them back.

  • Thanks folks, I have cheered up a little now, I fully intend on making a formal complaint about it. Ok, yes, I guess he was telling the truth about me but even so, it was totally unprofessional. Generally people on the phone have been ok, or even quite nice just a few who spoil it.

Many do behave in this way sadly. I got used to dealing with them and started having a bit of fun with them. The fact that they couldn't bully or threaten or scare me, really wound them up!
