Co-Ownership Houses in NI

Options
Hi guys,

Am looking for a bit of advice as ive searched the net and am none the wiser really!

ATM myself and my partner rent a house in Ballymena, but ideally we want to buy one (staying within the Ballymena area)
A couple of years ago we had a bad run with money and employment which affected our credit rating horrendously, but we have been on top of this since then.

My partner has just restarted work after a long time off, and im disabled and not able to work.

Can someone tell me the ins and outs of any Co-ownership schemes in NI, as i can only really find details of it in England. Are there more than one company who does it? What do they require from potentials (eg, credit rating, deposit, etc)

Any help, links and suggestions greatly appreciated :)

i have a friend who works for co-ownership housing in northern ireland, it is very much raffle based each month, so you have a chance of getting it and a chance of not (obviously) so its really down to the key word there, CHANCE, like gambling. but i do hope it all works out for you! its a great idea, and should help many people if done correctly.

Not quite a raffle. I know a mortgage advisor who has put in 7 applications in for clients and got all 7 through. He sits down with clients while they fill in the forms. He makes sure all the extra documents are there, in order, properly labelled etc. Then he drives down to Belfast to hand them in himself.
Not a lottery, just make sure the application is not a slapdash effort.
Apparently up till lately, there where only 100 applications accepted and granted per month in all of Northern Ireland.
I'd imagine today's budget has put a large dent in that number.
  • nice reply chunter! im helping my son buy his 1st house through co-ownership.it does seem to be quite complicated though, seems that a financial advisor is a must.dont suppose you would now how to find out which ones work in conjunction with co-ownership?? any additional info would be gratefully appreciated.thanks in advance.nikki
