CSA Protected Income

Hi all, perhaps someone can shed light on something for me. I have just received a re-assessment from the CSA stating that my ex partner should pay £0.00 per week for my son. My ex has his own family with 2 children, takes home £450 a week with a mortgage of £210 a week. He doesn't see his son. This new assessment has given him protected income of £505.00 per week. Therefore I now get nothing. What is going on? I would appreciate any comments. Thanks

Have you discussed your concerns/need for an explanation with the CSA? If so, what was the outcome of this? When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0

I rang them this morning, and their helpdesk wasn't any help, they said that I'l have to speak to the case worker. Funny thing is, when I called a review last time, it took a year and a half to get an outcome. This assessment was only in place 10mths and my ex-partner was able to get a complete reassessment put in place in the space of 4 weeks.0

After he gets an allowance for himself, his housing costs and children, in his case there is no income from which to make an assessment, so he pays nothing. Does he have a working partner? If so, you can apply for a variation/departure on the grounds that she can contribute towards their housing costs - this would increase the amount of assessable income available. I can't promise it will make any difference, as it depends on the figures, but if you PM me the details I can give you an indication.0
