Back to work session

Anyone knows what happens at one of these? I received a letter the other day stating that i need to attend one, not totally sure if its at the jobcentre i sign on at (It displays a address on the letter but not sure if its the address of my jobcentre)

Just wondering what happens? Do i need to bring anything? What will they do? On the letter it says its a 1 hour session. I think i read somewhere that it's a group session? (not 100% sure of this) or is it a one on one interview? Do we/I just basically listen to what the speaker has to say and then leave?

Thx.

A friend of mine went to one of these sessions recently, it did last about an hour, and its mainly them talking and you listening and they give you an information pack, and tell you about how they can help you get a job.
Also its a group session, and they asked people, different ways of finding a job e.g internet.

Thats about all it is really

I went to mine on Thursday last week.

About half an hour group session reminding you about your Job Seekers Agreement, what types of work there are in the local area etc.

Then a one to one session with a member of staff to see what they can do for you in your search for employment

    Cheers for the reply!

So you need to suggest certain tasks for them to do in order for you to find work? such as what exactly?

You wont be asked to contribute anything. Just a session where they remind you of your obligations and advise you on other ways you could improve your job search (sign up with employment agencies etc)

When i went to my Back to work session it was a group session where the speaker spoke for about 15 mins, we were given information packs and were allowed to sign on there and then.

it was very basic information such as look in internet/ask family/friends and look in newspapers, things we already knew basically.

Hope your Back to work session is fine

No sorry that came across a bit strange, made sense when I typed though.

They asked me to fill out a form showing what work I am capable of doing and what I would do to find it, same as I did when I first applied for JSA.

Then I had a one to one with an advisor who asked how my jobseeking was going, showed me some vacancies that they had on their computer and asked if I wanted to see a Jobsearch Support person.

I decided to as was worried that if I refused they might stop my money and it couldn't hurt.
