DMP Payplan and Creditors A little worried I have done the best thing

Hello,
I really hope somebody can give me some advice please. I have contacted payplan with regards to a DMP which has now been some 4 weeks ago. They say they have contacted all my creditors with regard to my account but I seem to be gettig phonecalls all the time asking what is going on and what there minimum payment is going to be per month, is this normal? Whats really worrying me is that Barclaycard have just phoned and stated that if my minimum monthly payment is less than 1% they will transfer the matter to a debt management company which is really worrying me< should it? I have tried so hard to keep on top of my debts but they are too high. I really need some advice guys and any words of support would really pick me up right now.
I just feel payplan are just too slow or is it the creditors? I work at the local county court and I am terrified that I will get a claim at work, which as most of you will understand will make my Job very difficult indeed.

Hi damodee. I am with CCCS and its always slow at first to get everything sorted out. Creditors kept phoning and saying we had to phone the CCCS and hurry them up. CCCS told us everything was OK and its always like this until all the departments catch up with each other.
Don't panic...in a few weeks time you'll wonder why you were so worried!0 -
Hi I'm also about to start on a DMP and have been getting phonecalls constantly. The good thing is I have my land-line off the hook (b/f and I tend to use our mobiles) and my mobile is on silent.
Hun, as far as I know the phonecalls calm down once a few payments are sent to your creditors and they're happy with the amount.
Hope this helps (bty there is a thread for all the new DMP newbies it was started by seeweed and it's a great help maybe you should post on there as wondergirl works for cccs and gives fab advice)
Try and not worry too much, it'll sort itself out soon

That has been my experience. I am about to start my third month on my DMP and things are just beginning to settle with banks / companies accepting my offer at last and freezing interest (including MBNA
).
I think one of the problems is that these companies are massive and communication within them is often poor. Also they do try to test out whether you are really having problems or just trying it on (as if you would)!Julie

I'm over 2 years into my DMP and the first few months were really tough. Some of my creditors claimed (falsely) to have not received anything from CCCS and others just didn't want to accept the amounts offered to them.
In reality, you are likely to have some debts passed to a debt management company - but many have found them so much easier to deal with than the original creditors. Also, you are likely to have defaults posted against you, it seems as though it is a natural progression as you are not making the contracted minimum payments.
On the plus side though, it seems as though very few firms go down the CCJ route - as long as your payments seem to be reasonable (based on your income & expenditure) and are made on time.
Keep with it, I know it seems really hard just now, but you've taken the first step.0 -
i am with payplan and can not fault them. the creditors have a knack of not receiving the financial statement hence why they keep on calling. the main problem was quite a few companies use a system called paylink which sends your financial statement from payplan to the creditor (bos and hfc and lloyds) this is great but the people in the call centres have not heard of paylink (most could prob. not spell it). therefore i spent most of my time calling payplan who would then either re send or gave me a contact name if the company called again.
it does get easier and like most people my calls stopped about 3 months after plan in place. it can take that long for some of your creditors to accept your proposal
good luck0 -
Hi damodee,
I've just made my 2nd monthly payment to Payplan and am still receiving 4-6 calls a day and unfortunately,
a couple of the foreign call centres used by my creditors have no scruples in ringing my work stating they are calling from Lloyds TSB or Morgan Stanley. I'm looking forward to the day when I can answer the phone without my blood pressure going sky high or waiting until the phone stops ringing to check who has called. I've stopped my children from answering the phone until further notice. It is really sad...
I do email Payplan at least weekly to keep a check on progress as a couple of my creditors have not yet agreed to my repayment plan.
Good luck and keep in touch with progress0 -
Some of them are hoping that you'll give them some extra before the DMP kicks in...[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0

Helloooo

I'm new on here and this is my first post, WOW! all this sounds like what i've been through too...the constant calls etc... it does stop eventually! We started our debt management plan a year ago and we (my hubby and me) owe a lot of dough. It's been slowly going down but it looks like i'm in for round two of phone calls etc. cos his company is closing down and he has had to start a new job. His money has gone down now by 80 quid a week (approx not sure precisely as he gets his first pay packet this week) but hey guess what!!!... I pay the CCCS around about £80 a week and won't be able to pay my debtors hardly anything!!!
blimey the last few years i've been to hell and back with the things i've been through, so this will be another testing time to add to my collection lol.
Sometimes I wonder how I am able to keep my sense of humour, but there is always someone worse off than you and I feel so sorry for anyone going through that initial stress of sorting out your debts...I hardly ever slept!!
But at the end of the day we got though, money might be nice to have but family and health are more important. And I'm ready for round two of harrassing phone calls ...which will start next month when I reduce my first payment....
next on my agenda is to contact the CCCS when I find out how much we have coming in....and start another DMP...grrrr
Anyway remember theres thousands of us in the same boat, we're not alone and this site is great
... wish I'd known about it when I first saw the light and realised I had to do something...We didn't have a clue what to do or what would happen.
take care
