Old Allied Dunbar Pension Advice

Options
About twenty years ago I took out a pension with Allied Dunbar. I couldn't tell you much about it as I'm not very clued up on this sort of thing, but I do remember it was somehow linked to the government which meant it couldn't be cashed in early.

I paid into it for a couple of years and then certain things happened in my life. I went off the rails for a while and forgot all about it for many years. I recently found part of an old statement from Allied Dunbar which reminded me of it and as it is due to mature in five years time, it got me thinking that perhaps I will be entitled to something for the couple of years I paid in?

So, I thought why not contact Allied Dunbar, inform them that I moved address some years ago and see where I stand - possibly even pay into it again for a few years? Only to find.... Allied Dunbar no longer exist.

Anyone got any advice on this? Is it worth persuing, or is it a non-starter? If so, where would I persue it? :doh:One thing I do have is the plan number, which I guess might help?

Zurich took on Allied Dunbar's pension business so give them a ring - have the paperwork you found to hand - 0500 546546 will get you to switchboard just tell them you're a customer with an old AD pension and they will put you through to the right place!

The AD pensions are serviced from Zurich in the Isle of Man. You would be best writing to them first, providing proof of ID and proof of your new address along with the policy number and then following up by phone a couple of weeks later. I used to work for them, and you will have to go through KYC anyway before they sort you out.

KYC = know your customer. In this case, KYC = you prove that you really are the person you say you are :)
