Obviously this is getting personal, which wasn't my intention. Anyway. learnt my lesson, Internet loans are a con, looking at the forum I'm not the only one who thinks this.0

Bored now. The monthly repayments changed from £189 quoted on the site to £204 shown when the paperwork arrived. I was informed when enquiring at Nationwide, that the more times you search for a loan or enquire, it goes against your credit history. or is this again a case of banking Bull***t.0

You are correct Grommit, someone will not notice the asterix next to Typical and that is intentional.
You could try contacting them to say you will only take it at 7.8%.
The other thing I heard about A and L loans is that they were/are? front loaded. So it may be a lucky escape.0 -

have had several A&L loans over the last 15 years and they have never been front loaded and early settlement figures were always as i had calculated0 -

Yeah you're right there are many people on this forum who borrow money and feel having to pay it back is a con. But they're idiots.0 -

It's not a con, it is a rate dependent on circumstances. For whatever reason yours do not match their critera for 7.9%, yes it is disappointing, but not a con.
If you feel you can get 7.9% or at least a better rate elsewhere, tell Santander you don't want the loan at that rate and you'll go elsewhere. They'll either say ok bye, or say well lets take a look and offer a lower rate to keep your business.
In my experience of getting credit from a dozen or so different companies, only those backed by the Santander group or Abbey before that, have turned me down. I've been disappointed but sod em if they don't want my business there are obviously many companies who do.0
