JSA Job Grant

Hi

Just after a bit of advice.

I have been claiming IB JSA for 6 months and I have been offered a job :jI was just wondering if anyone knew how long it takes the job grant to be paid once you have signed off from JSA?

I am asking because I am intending to use that to pay for my daughters nursery deposit and first month of fees which are due in advance.

Does anyone know of any other help I may be entitled to to cover the costs of her childcare?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
Kayleigh

Well i was given one of these grants a couple of years ago after finding a job, sorry to say but my experience was a nightmare with it - they told me it would be in on a specific date so of course i checked and no it wasn't so i kept checking for about another 2 weeks still wasn't in - had to call them to be told it hadn't been processed properly once i did it was in my account 3 days later. My advice would be if it isn't in on the date they tell you call them to chase it up as that is the only way things actually get done with them.

I would ask the jobcentre also if you would be entitled to a social fund payment as then that would enable you to go back to work much easier and would also assist you in payments of bills etc until you start getting your wages - definately make an appointment with an advisor so that they can help you with what your entitled to.

Good luck and well done xx
