Hi all.
After reading some posts on here about sky wont let you cancel they will make you a offer to stay, i was brave and phone up today to cancel sky completly!!
I was only on the £21 a month package, and when asked why i wanted to cancel i told them i was only interested in a sports package and there was no way i was paying £36 a month to upgrade. RESULT WAS.....
I have now got full sky package including sports for only £18 for the next 5 months!!!!!!
Thats £3 saving a month and iv got the sports package back!!
Thanks everyone, i thought i would be a unlucky one and end up with no sky, but your advice really worked!!

Great - but what will it cost once the 5 months is up, and how long have you had to commit yourself?:rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

I've binned my £31 per month Sky, despite them continually ringing me back offering 6 months @ £7-50 per month.
Better off without it. More to life.Only when the last tree has died

will we realise we cannot eat money0 -

Totally agree. We installed satellite TV in 1983 (to get the Italian TV). There were about 20 channels available (Eutelsat - analogue) and one of these was called SKY TV. It was free and showed all sorts of programmes, such as WWF wrestling, The Simpsons and had reasonable sports coverage. After a few years, it split to SKY1 and SKY2, then, as they started getting more sports coverage, split even further, asking viewers, in addition to advertisers, to pay for their channels. With the introduction of digital, SKY now have more channels than most people have hot dinners. Every time a programme becomes popular all they have to do is set up another pay channel - there will always be somebody mug enough to pay for it:rolleyes:
I have no idea what the top rate for SKY is, but even £31 a month is £372 a year. How many UK TV licences can you get for this.
I am not advocating that you should not have the choice of channels, but there are cheaper alternatives - We have Hotbird for the Italian TV (50+ Italian Channels - most junk and about 200 other channels) and Freeview.
You can only watch one Channel at once.:beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

Hiya, they havent made me sign up to any contract, if after 5 months i still want to cancel i can, and unfortunatly with 4 kids in the house, i just couldnt cancel it completely, i had enough earache off them when i lowered the package to the £21 a month one.
The way i look at it is, yes i could cope without it completly, but my kids have no spending money or treats other than b/days and xmas pressies, no partys ect, and this offer will save me £90 over the 5 months and my kids are over the moon that they can watch the football again.
So im happy Iv saved money and so is my hubby and the kids.
( This will not stop me trying to get them to let me cancel it again in 5 months time!! LOL )Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
sorry dlb, i hope you dont think i was being hard on you?
yes you have done great saving all that money, very dfw style, you should be proud of yourself :j
