JSA Job Offered start date in 4 months ?

Hi, can you help, daughter been on JSA for about 3 week. She has been active in looking for work and today has been told that one of the jobs she has applied for has been sucessful. The position involves a CRB check etc and its a new position being created, she has been given a start date the beginning of October. Originally when she went for the position they advised that the start date would have been July but they informed that they will not get their operators license until September so all new staff cannot start until October.

She has now contacted agencies that she is already with to notify them that she is looking for a temp job until October, they have not got anything for her at the moment.

The letter confirming her position start date is now in the post.

So, can she still apply for JSA as she is still needs a job until October? she is not the kind to sit about and wait till October, she also needs the money from a paying job.

Thanks for any help.

She can continue to claim JSA until she starts her new job, as long as she is still actively looking for work in the meantime...

Can I ask another question. I read on another forum that if she continues to claim JSA and although she is still seeking a temp position, because she has a permanant position in the pipeline she will have to pay them back when she is earning?

I've never heard anything like that. When I got offered my last job, I had to wait 9 weeks before I started. Job centre told me I could continue to sign on as usual, as long as I was still actively looking for work in the meantime. My JSA didn't stop until the day before I started my new job and I was never told about paying anything back and I haven't had anything else about it since (nearly a year later)

Thanks again, maybe they were talking about a crisis loan ?
