Fighting a losing battle!!!!!!!!

I am a single mum of two kids and have been running a business for ten years. Things have been good and I managed to buy an ex local authority house and tick by just nicely. With the current climate and for various other factors work has been really sparse and to say I am struggling is an understatement. I have done the SOA stuff and have cut back dramatically with all my outgoings, I am counting every single penny. I have also sent out leaflets/flyers etc to try and market my business but there really is not alot of work.

The house I own is in a state of disrepair and so selling it would probably leave me with some of my mortgage still left to pay. I am figuring that a Council or Housing Association house would be half the rent that I am paying for my mortgage now. It makes sense to do this but I don't even know where to begin. Even if I have a good month of earnings from work I am still left with literally nothing. Due to the nature of work, I have had ten years of leaving my kids with babysitters four nights per week and I feel it is time to start afresh. I have also applied for job after job but don't get past interview stage. It would break my heart to lose my house as I have worked very hard for it and have not claimed any benefits in ten years.

Sorry if this is long!
Where do I start with this mess???

Any help/feedback appreciated.

    Hiya,

Start by posting your SOA since people may be able to point out things you might have missed.

Can you supliment your income from a part time job etc?

    John.
  • Thanks John. Will post SOA, although it will probably take me a while. I have looked at my financial state in detail and have really cut back on every single thing but I will post anyway as the people here are excellent.

I have applied for lots of jobs in the past few months. I have even been turned down for a cleaning job which left me feeling a bit deflated. I have been self employed for many years and my lack of work experience is not selling my CV very well. (Due to the nature of my work).

What is your nature of work?
Have you considered care work? most local NHS hospitals have a care staff bank (reserve list) and shifts are easy to pick up? and pay is not too bad or even a nursing agency?
