I owe Kensington Mortgages according to experian

As the title suggests I got a free credit report this morning and discovered that I apparently owe them £669 for a mortgage I took out in december 2005, I have never had a mortgage from this company.

I have never heard of Kensington before and was wondering if they had bought out another smaller lender that maybe I DO owe money too. They haven't contacted me and the file hasn't been updated since Jan 2006 but i'd like to clear any debt I have and expunge any false or outdated entries from my report.

If anyone has any insight or advice I would really appreciate it.

Thank You :)

Thanks for those replies, I wasn't saying I wouldn't contact them, I have this afternoon and they say I don't have any account with them and they can't give me any information as too why they are listed on my credit report.

I was after a more informed reply as too the company, their customer dealings and reputation.

I can tell by the sarcastic response from you two I will not get any help from here, I was under the impression that this was a forum created to help but I now see the error of my ways.

    Thanks again.

what about contacting experian to get them to correct your file? they may be able to shed some light that way as they will ask you to contact kensington and you will say you have and they have no knowledge of this and theres no account so surely thats a mistake on your file?

    Hi

You could always ask for an up to date copy of your deeds held at the Land Registry (they call them office copy entries). it only costs a few pounds and can be done on line. Any mortgages will be shown in the charges section. If Kensington is not showing, you can ask Experian to remove entry on your credit reference file.
