dental bridge broke!

I had an old bridge removed last week, impressions taken for a new one, and the old bridge temporarily replaced.
Last night the bridge came off,and the crown part has cracked in half!! My dentist is shut today:(
Can any dentists out there tell me when I go back monday, will my dentist be able to fit some other type of temporary bridge, or am I going to be walking round with a major gap at the front??
Thanks
Sue

Have you rung your dentist? It may have a number on incase you have a emergency especially when you have a open course of treatment0

hi
Yes, i called this morning but the receptionist said the dentist is not there today. The earliest appt is monday morning.
Thanks0 -
I am sure that when monday comes the dentist will be able to patch something together. As long as you are not in any pain just take it easy and try not to irritate the tooth too much. Keep the broken pieces though as often these can be used to fabricate a new one0

I thought if they had a open course of treatment and they have a emergency then they have to be seen within 24 hrs?
Shouldnt a dentist be covering for them?
I know it may not be a "technical" emergency but the patient should of been given some advice on what to do until monday at the very least.0 -
I guess if its a friday and the dentist isnt there then they can be seen within 24 hrs in this case. My understanding is that there needs to be availability for care. That may be as simple as directing someone to NHS direct. Advice would be good however without pain, a broken temporary bridge would necessitate being seen within 24 hrs.0

^ I understand that but patients shouldnt be left high and dry just b/c the dentist fancies a day off. Its good he/she actually has staff there but it says something when a patient has to come on a internet forum for advice0
