Does anyone know if white toilet rolls are greener than coloured ones, IYKWIM. Which is most harmful the bleach used in the white or the dye in the coloured?

since the coloured would require bleaching before colouring I would expect neither is particularly good.Tim0

I believe they bleach then dye so they've all been bleached meaning white is less bad.0

Have you considered buying recycled? Sainsbury's own brand are great and cheaper than Andrex etc. Wish I could remember how much I've just paid, might be a bit more helpful.
Alternatively, Nouvelle recycled is definitely softer but much more expensive – however, I managed to buy about 12 four-roll packs from Morrisons on BOGOF so I saved a fair bit then!

Nouvelle is only expensive in the supermarkets.
Everywhere else it is £1 for 4, £2 for 9 (sometimes 12) and if you can find the 18 packs then £3 is what they usually go for.
Suma toilet roll is advertised as:
"
No harmful chlorine bleaches, dyes or optical brighteners are used
No animal testing
Suitable formost people with allergies and sensitivity
Dioxin safe
"
So a better option. Usually about £1.50-£2.00 for 4 and £10-£15 for 36ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -
Everywhere else as in where? Where else would you buy toilet roll other than a supermarket?
Thanks for the pricing info.0 -
Small local shops. I wouldn't buy toilet roll (or anything else) from a supermarket. Still, I suppose it's slightly better than the rubbish they try to sell as food.
If you really must buy from a large chain, Home Bargains sell it for £1 for 4.ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -
I use Suma loo roll - but have recently tried an organic cotton variety by CottonSoft - it's packaging states the following...Kind to your skin. Kind to your world. Unbleached 3 ply organic cotton tissue. 4 rolls 3ply. Average 200 sheets per roll. Sheet size 138mm x 110mm. Total area 12.14 sq.m. Minimum roll length 27.60m. Made from pure organic cotton. No chemical pesticides or fertilisers. No bleach. Free of inks, dyes and perfumes. Ideal for sensitive skins. Naturally biodegradable. Safe for septic tanks. No animal testing. CERTIFIED FREE OF CHEMICAL PESTICIDES, FERTILISERS & BLEACH.
It costs £1.99 for 4 x rolls[size=-2]Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

I buy Lidl's recycled loo roll, it's not as thick and posh as some of the brands, but you get a better feel for what you're doing

It's about £1.20 for 10 rolls, comes in a lime green flowery pack.0 -
