some places could do things differently but here my first appointment at the outside provider was just to have a one to one chat with my advisor. it was only for 30 minutes. she refered me to do an induction a couple of weeks later. this was in a classroom with others there in the same situation. it was meant to last 3 hours but we got away after 2 hours 30 minutes. we would have got away even earlier if they didnt schedule a pointless break during the session. they just lectured us on the usual crap to do with jobsearch and the course. they may tell porkies as well. at mine they claimed we were not allowed any holidays or sickdays for the whole year. i said well how come the handbook i was sent says otherwise. she just claimed we dont have any of them here....you will have to take it up with your advisor. since then i have noticed while waiting to see my advisor that they have a pile of the handbooks in question in reception. so keep any handbooks related to the course just incase they try and con you.
edit.
actually thinking back the first one to one lasted a little more than 30 minutes due to me having to do a daft questionairre on the computer. the questionairre is designed to find excuses to refer you to do various jobsearch related sessions. for example it will ask if you need help with your cv. if you say yes you will have to do a session on cvs. so think very carefully about whether you really need help with anything before answering. they try to catch you out slightly because they arent always worded like do you need help with. sometimes it is are you as good at interviews as you would like. if you say no you will be doing an interview session. all appointments with you advisor after that should last no more than 30 minutes.0 -
i was there about an hour and twenty minutes. we had an introduction, tour of the building, signed some forms and then we had a Maths and English test. We then went to different coaches and gave them all our details which they put on the system. I have been given an appt with a coach next week.:footie:0
