I get scared of choking, and I have panic attacks too. I am SO much better now. My dentist and I have an understanding which is - he will: let me listen to my Ipod, stop when I stay stop and not take the mick. I will : not grab his arm, and stay still :-)

I take my Ipod, plug it in and turn it up then try to relax. If I get really panicky (usually having that x ray thing in my mouth) I flap my arms, and he takes it out (I sound pathetic, I know!). For my extraction, I took my Mum. If you hate the injections ask for numbing/baby gel which will numb your gum before the injections

    It's a nightmare isn't it?
I'm not as fearful as you, I manage to have check ups without too big a pullaver, but for any treatment that involves a 30 min + appointment then it's Diazapam 2 x 5mg for me! (taken an hour apart seems to work better for me for some reason.
I also take 1 x 5mg before going through security at the airport, not scared of flying but the constant bag checking and passport this time no not that one it's boarding card only this time sort of messing around gives me chest pain and I can't be doing with it.

saying that will only make it harder for yourself next time. Plan in advance, 'know your enemy'- what will change your mind and work on trying to change that- if its because your more vugnrable to changing your mind at the last minute, try taking a friend, work on getting yourself there as the more you do it the easier it gets.

Or get a friend to book it and not tell you when it is ... then take you there without telling you. Its the anticipation that is worse than anything else.
