Bleached blonde to brunette at home?

I am naturally dark brown and have been having some bleach blonde highlights (through a cap) put in my hair for the past 7 months. I have decided that the cost and the damage it is doing to my hair is not worth it.

Is there any way I can dye it back to dark brown at home without an expensive trip to the hairdresser? Before this I used to dye my hair dark brown all the time as I have some grey. Will it be ok just to slap a home dye kit on?

I've gone darker over bleach at home and it was fine, just make sure you use a dark enough colour.

If done properly bleach should not damage your hair that much, I've been using it on mine for years. Maybe you could consider changing your hairdresser if you want to stay light? Or you could try doing it yourself.

Will probably go for something like this

My hair is a bit like this at minute, blonde highlights with dark underneath although naturally it is the colour above

If you've been going that much lighter than your natural colour you'll need to put a darker one with plenty of red in it, otherwise it will go green.
    Trust me :-)
Although, if your hair is getting very damaged by the bleach you could try asking your hairdresser for a different product (and, are you using straighteners etc a lot as these are very damaging if used every day. I really damaged mine by using mine all the time and as soon as I started cutting to once or twice a week it really imrpoved. I'm naturally dark blonde but highlight lighter, although I've had it all kinds of colours :o )

Have you thought of the local college (when they reopen) for a colour correction?

I think you are meant to put a red dye on your hair first and then use the brown (check with a hair dresser though!)

Sounds a bit scary! I would not be confident doing something like that at home! Looks like I am going to have to shell out *sigh*

I've put brown (chestnut) dye over bleached hair.

The colour isn't that brilliant & it slips off, but its not awful.

The shorter your hair the better as there is less bleached hair to grow out.

    How long is it?

You can dye it with home dye, but you might need to do it frequently until it grows out, because of the slip off.

I have a short, chin length bob. I dye my hair every 4 weeks anyway (have some grey) so would I have to do it more often than this?
