Hi all,
Just picked up all the apples that have dropped off the tree and want to make some apple crumbles.
I want to make a few in those little foil tins (like you get from chinese takeaway).
So if I slice and stew the apples a little first and then cover the top with crumble, can I freeze it then and, when I need one, can I cook it straight from frozen.
Also, what is the recipe for crumble, could someone please tell me, I've forgotten.
Thanks

My crumble mix is -
8oz s/r flour
4oz butter/margarine
4oz caster sugar.
Ive often frozen our crumbles, and have cooked them defrosted and from frozen!!!! Just make sure its well cooked before serving.0 -
Yes you can freeze them and cook them as you describe. I tend to freeze crumble mix separately in a bag so I can use it to top all sorts of fruit.0

Made one last weekend for the first time and figured I'd use the same as I would for pastry, i.e. half the weight of fat to flour, plus sugar to taste. Turned out lovely, although would add a little bit more sugar next time, especially as the fallers were quite tart.0

yes i have done it like this in the past, i also do the same for apple and black berry crumbles. they cook fine from frozen. not sure how long they take to cook. i just cook them until the top golden brown.0

Mix some oats in the crumble, use brown sugar, and some chopped almonds too. Blimmin lovely! Oooh and a bit of cinnamon too.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0
