Hi, hope this is in the right place.

Just wanted some advice on my loan thats totally gone astray.

It it a 5k loan I took out 5 years ago in August. It should have been finished this August. The repayments were £110.67. Its with Alliance & Leicester, and doesn't have that PPI thing on.
It was up to date until xmas, when I was made redundant, and haven't paid since. I spoke to them a month ago and they said that now its 6 months arrears it been sold to another company. They started ringing recently, but have now given up. I now know that enough is enough, I have to sort this.

Just wanted to check a few things Ive been told....

1. Someone at Experian told me that because I managed to default on this loan 3 ago, (managed to sort it all out and get back up to date again) that default will stay for 6 years now, so it doesn't matter if I default again, the original date will stay. So the default will be gone in 3 years?

2. I now have to go to Citizens Advice to do a Statement of Earnings so they will agree to maybe take a token gesture. Is that my only option?

What are my options? I suppose with the arrears, charges, and payments left it might be about £1500. I'm on Income Support, about to have my second baby in 2 months.

This is my only debt apart from £200 on a catalogue Im up to date with and slowly clearing, and 2 overdrafts which (I know this is bad but...) I don't see as debt right now.

Just wanna bump to see if anyone can help at all? Think I will pop into Citizens Advice tomorrow to see what they say.
Had a call from Alliance & Leicester yesterday, answered and was immediately asked 'security questions' as usual. I gave my address, but was told that didn't match exactly what was on their system, so I had to call them back. I said, um, no, you can call me back and I'll give you another address you may have on your system, it might be out of date, and he hung up on me! And never called back! Do they not realise I haven;t paid them in 7 months, anything to !!!! me off and make my life more difficult and I will make it 8 months!

I would definately suggest the Citizens Advice, you clearly do not have enough income to pay the debt.

Your credit rating will be shot to bits now anyway, so nothing you can do about that really. Not sure about the defaults.

I really can't see that your situation is going to improve if you are not going to be working for sometime with a new baby on the way.

Possibly try a post on the debt free wanabee's board and see if they can come up with some general advice.

    Good Luck.
