just one question. before i start the sept grocery challenge

Options
i am starting the sept grocery challenge....never done one before..

i have set myself £50. per week. to feed the rabble...mentioned in sig

i normally use money off coupons when excepted..
and i also do r & r on meat etc.. when i can find them

now this is where i need advice/suggestions..

do i ...what ever discount i can get using the above... do i put that towards bills etc.... so still only using £50. a week

or do i....what ever discount i get from using the above.....use it as ..a buffer for my shopping... so .if i get £5. off shopping using vouchers etc ... i still got £5. to spend on shopping that week....

as the challenge is starting tomorrow.. i am getting a shopping purse ready... with only my weekly £50. and money off vouchers etc in there.. no credit cards no bank cards.. etc... only £50. cash...

hope someone can put me on the right path with the voucher use... question

thanks..

You could buy extra treats with the money saved or you could put that money away to save up for extra treats at ..........................Christmas!

I am actually saving the money from the vouchers for christmas treats but obviously I guess it depends on what you really want - extra treats or saving for something else you need, bills etc.

Never done this myself-although I am thinking about it-but I agree with pipkin. Also you might find yourself struggling one week if you havent got as many vouchers as before.

Im gonna have a go at this too, (when ive planned properly) and any "spare" money left over ill put in the Christmas grocery pot or buy supermarket saving stamps.

I think its up to you, if you have £50 in your purse, and you are aiming not to take anymore out that week, then any coupons could be a bonus!!!!
With my coupons, i put the equivilent (sp) in value in my mortgage pig, but thats my personal goal (the mortgage), if you wanted to use your coupons in this way, then that would be a good choice also!!!!
  • ooooooh - think i am gonna join this - will aim for £50 a week for 6 of us - should be possible if i am careful i think....

I get 10% discount from tesco [work there part time] so might tot that up as virtual savings.....

thanks for your advice as alot of you as saying... might be worth me using as a buffer... for a week or two until i get used the the budget.....

but i think its def... worth me.. trying to keep in budget... and use the savings from the vouchers... to pay off bills.... hay if its only £5. a week .. off my credit card... its still extra.. being paid off...

so.. my spare purse is getting ready for tomorrow.....with my money off vouchers in there.... and come tomorrow when we get £100.. out of the bank.... £50. will go in the shopping purse.... and the other £50. will be for electric.. petrol... water rates.... coal etc... so it will be tight... but..thats the only way.....

i will just have to remember martin:money: wagging his finger at me every time i stray off my budget...
