can you freeze coconut milk and thai paste

bought loads of cans of coconut milk the other week at aldi and actually used one last night!! well half anyway in a curry with some thai green curry paste. does anyone know if you can freeze the leftovers? I have half a can of milk and a fair bit of the paste remaining and i probably wont make another one in the next few days. I have frozen milk but its usually semi skimmed but this stuff is obviously fullfat variety! and the paste? have never frozen anything like that either to be honest so dont know if you can but I cant see any reason not to? unless someone else knows better.

  • absolutely, I always do that if I have half a can left!!
  • I put coconut milk in ice cube trays, that way i can pull out as much as i need and pop the cubes in. Saves defrosting loads and then having to make something with it!

What a timely post. Got ¾ tin of coconut milk light sitting in my fridge. And I've got some ice cube bags lurking in the back of one of my cupboards.

    Thanks!
  • I regularly freeze coconut milk!! :D Although pre-MSE I never did, just chucked it!!!

We had a similar problem with coconut milk as there's only the two of us and we never needed a full tin.

We have taken to buying a box of Pataks creamed coconut. There are 4 sachets to a box and it costs 50p at Asda or 75p at Sainsburys. You just put a sachet into some hot water to melt it a bit then add to your curry (or whatever) with some water and it does the trick wonderfully.
