I have loads of chillies on plants in the garden but they are all green, how long should I leave them on the plant in the hope that they go red or is it a case of if they haven't gone red yet they're not going to?

Do you need them to be red for a specific purpose? i.e. display or flavoured oil? If not you can use them whenever you want. Sometimes my chillies take a few weeks to turn red.- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0

mine are purple = ) not sure where I've gone wrong ;- )Tim0

You lucky things! I was given a chilli plant this year and it's only just started flowering, one flower has dropped off and I can see a little green bulbous bit which I think must be a chilli
. Is there enough summer time left for them to grow into fully-fledged hot ones??

If the chillies are still green when its time to bring them in from the greenhouse then I usually take a piece of thread and tie the chillies in a line and hang them in the window. They will usually turn red after a couple of weeks. I then leave them to dry out for use over the winter.Humans only use around forty percent of their brains capacity. Imagine what we could achieve if we used the other seventy percent!0

Well what ever colour they are - they'll be great. Ours were green. We gave a load away and chopped a load up and put them in the freezer so that always have a stock of frozen chilli.0

Hi all, I have a chilli related question. Ive never bought chillis before and was surprised there isn't "the ultimate chilli thread". They are finger chillis and i don't know how to store them, chop them, use in food (seeds, no seeds, ? etc) quantity to use - i do like hot but am used to chilli flakes and have no idea how these bad boys work. I don't know when they get added in cooking and i don't understand if i can use them in the same dishes i would use chilli flakes . I don't know how long they keep and ive no idea how to freeze them - whole, chopped, etc.
Any help ? Web searches don't offer me the help you experts could;)
:AA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
