Tesco's Fruit

Options
I bought some red grapes and apples from Tesco on Monday.

The grapes had that crunchy texture which meant that they'd been mistakenly frozen at some point; the apples were soft and mushy although they looked OK. I was offered a refund, but is there any store that does decent fruit and veg without resorting to Waitrose/M & S prices?

I live in a city centre so there aren't any markets near me.
I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Fresh grapes are supposed to have a slightly crisp texture, they shouldn't be completely soft. If you have a personal taste for otherwise then just buy over ripened slightly older grapes.

    Greengrocer ?

Not that crisp - freezing grapes does something to their cell structure.

Lidl is sometimes quite good, but inconsistent.

I find Morrisons usually have the best and freshest fruit and veg - know what you mean about Tesco, don't think I've ever bought a punnet from there without at least one dodgy fruit in it. And I wouldn't mind if it were strawberries, but when you've only got four nectarines in a punnet it's annoying! And they're so expensive to buy seperately. To be fair though, they excelled themselves yesterday - five nectarines, in a punnet, for £1, only one of which was slightly dodgy but still edible! Yaaay :D

I haven't shopped at Tesco for years, but always thought their fruit and veg was terrible. There's an indoor market in our nearest city centre, housed in one of the shopping centres - do you perhaps have something like that?

Even city centres have a greengrocer somewhere nearby.
