reasonable creditor requests???

Hi All,

Just want to pick all you clever peoples brains.....Quick background... Im self employed, I went to Cab in september with massive debts and couldnt afford the min payments, Cab wrote to all 7 of my creditors offering £1 token payments until my circumstances improved.
Since september I have been making cutbacks and improvements in my business and at the moment I have gone from a large deficit every month to now being able to pay my creditors £100 between them every month, Last week I sent my SOA to all my creditors, some have already replied saying they will accept my payments and review in 6 months, but this morning I had a letter from capital one saying they want me to send copies of my Tax return, busines bank statements, and personal bank statements, my question is, should I send them all those things? None of my other creditors have asked for them, I have send them a very detailed SOA, and Cab helped me to work out the pro-rata payments so they were accurate and fair.

Has anyone any advice?

Thanks x

A SOA prepared with the help of CAB is more than sufficient for Crap One.

  • Thanks fermi, I dont want them to think I'm being difficult I am trying my best, Iv got rid of my car, my house phone , internet, sky Tv, they agrred to £1 payments till september but as soon as iv had anything spare Iv let them know, What do you think Ishould do now? just ignore the letter and continue making the pro-rata payment?
  • Hi

I have the same dilemma as yourself, one creditor of mine requires proof of income before they will consider continuing with my DMP. CCCS have seen proof of my income and have sent this creditor a detailed SOA etc etc but this company still refuse to take their word for it, now call me daft but would a registered charity such as CCCS or CAB lie to a creditor about somebodys income

Afterall most creditors mine included and Capital one do reccomend CAB and CCCS, it's a joke

  • Well one of my creditors actually rang me last week and stupidly I answered and spoke to her, she told me they couldnt accept my SOA, that I had to get a letter from my accountant stating my income, when i pointed out to her that I would have to pay for such a letter and that my tax return for this year shows alot less than what im offering she said she didnt care, I asked for her name and she wouldnt give it to me, then I asked her to put it writing, when the letter came from this creditor it didnt mention anything she had asked for and just said they were accepting my prposed payment, I think the policies differ on whoever you speak to and what mood there in x

Welcome to life dealing with creditors :)
  • Thanks Thestealer, I have definatley learned not to answer their calls anymore, The only thing is the letter from capital one is bothering me, I cant see why they would want my bank statements, should i just ignore the letter and keep making my payments?
  • Hi

You could always reply stating that CAB have seen proof of your income and that the rest of your creditors have accepted your SOA and payments have commenced.

When I started my DMP, Citibank kept asking for a complete breakdown of my income, I just kept telling them the CCCS had already sent them that info.

Eventually, they just accepted it. Sometimes it takes time, think of your creditors like an excitable child, you just need to be firm and patient.
