Help with credit check

Hi

I have tried to get a monthly contract phone with virgin but was refused as I failed my credit check. I did a credit report with expiran and it came back as-:
1) Ace catalouge debt
2) LITTLEWOODS CATALOUGE debt
3) Gus catalouge debt
4) Not on electrol roll

I have now put my name on electrol roll and that will show 1st Sept.
The other debts above were all paid off in full. I was chased for them through a recovery agency but paid them no problem.

If after my name goes on the electrol list and I apply for the phone again, then the debts are still bad. What can I do to get rid of my bad credit if anything? I am normally really good but I moved house and thought I could get away with it. Please don't judge me I did feel guilty and was caught out and paid more than the original debts.

Any help or advice would be great?

dont worry no-1 will judge you on here.
my credit is also bad because
A= i moved house
B= i was not on electoral riole
C= i moved jobs
D =a few missed payments
i have been on the electoral role for 2 months now,in hose for 10months and in job for3months but my credit score had not shifted!!
i don't think there is anything you can do except keep up all payments on time (including rent and utilities) and sit tight and wait.

I do pay all my bills on time am never behind on them. I would have thought having my name on all these bills would help but dosent seem too. Thanks for your help.

your welcome-sometimes if you have a lot of debt but keep up with it it still goes against you as some companies feel that you have too many creditors and may find repayments difficult even with a good score.
but remeber different companies have their own way of scoring you as well as using experian/equifax.
Also if you have applied for lots of things in a short space of time this will also go against you.

thanks, your thread is a good read and very helpful. My debts are really small compared to some. I would be better just saving for my new phone I think.

If you have proof that the debts have been settled, write to the credit ref company and ask that your rating be updated to reflect that. I am sure that there is a specific form to ask for, but I am sorry, I can't remember it!

if i get your credit score you can just email them and ask them to put a correction notice on.
