Help with French Property?

I own a property in France and due to losing my job in the UK, I have no way of paying the monthly mortgage payments. I am now a number of months in arrears.

I am looking to sell the property, though I know that it is in negative equity. Subsequently if this sells and I still owe a sizeable amount with no way of paying this - what options do I have?

- What action can they take in the UK against me?
- If it didn't sell and they simply reclaim the property, the same question?
- Can they enforce this debt? if so, how?
- could this lead to me going bankrupt in the UK?

If I had the funds, I would of course settle any outstanding debt but this is an impossibility, so I am trying to find out what the likely outcome would be?

Thanks
