Just been approved for a Vanquis card...

...at the stonking interest rate of 59.4%!

Good job I only need it for car hire abroad (and the big fat 0's on my credit report!) :)

For those on here that have one, what was your starting limit?

Cheers,

Chris

    Mine was £250 start and 34.9%.

    I now have £1250 and still 34.9% (I thought I started at 39.9% and it dropped, but checking statements I was wrong!)

    I haven't paid interest since I got it a year ago though. Intending to pay as little interest as possible (pay it in full each month).

    Thanks guys - don't worry, there's no chance of it having anything on it by the time the statement comes through each month!

    That's great news hopeful, at least you can start to try and improve your credit. 59.4% interest!?! I have never heard of one that high lol but I suppose it's only what I can expect when we get to your stage in this process!

    I was discharged in October, I tried in November but was rejected so I left it a while and reapplied yesterday. Didn't get an instant decision but they called first thing this morning to say I'd been accepted (with pound signs in their eyes probably!).

    One other thing, I still have 3 defaults totalling about 20 grand showing as outstanding on my credit files (which were included in the BR) which I am in the process of trying to get marked as settled so that may well be the reason for the hideous interest rate. I just didn't have time to wait for them to be updated as we'll be hiring a car in France soon and you need a credit card for that I'm told (unlike here where you can use a debit card).

    59.4%!!! :eek::eek:

    That is a high rate, although not as high as the loan company my oldest boy saw advertising today on the TV, their rate was around the 2300% mark!!

    I don't think I will be applying for one of those cards, as really not sure I can trust myself to be sensible :o

    I will plod on with my cashminder, and hopefully if the need ever arises they will unlock the car hire thing on my card and we will be ok. Safest for me I think lol!!!

    That's what I intended to do until cashplus wouldn't turn car hire on for me - doh! So check with them before you bank on it being available to you :)
