Welcome to the boards Angyle! :hello:

You've taken a great big step forward in dealing with your debts by posting on here and talking to your Mum - it is always easier if you are not feeling alone with your worries.

Having had a look at your SOA, I think the main areas are:
    • Switch to Freeview if possible
    • Reduce your grocery bill
    • Check out costs of car sharing / public transport, as your petrol bill seems v high
    • Start a spending diary (it is great as a spending detterent because you know you have to write everything down!)
Hope you are feeling a bit brighter - there are always people here on the boards to chat to - perhaps you could look at some of the challenges to motivate you and cut spending, like the Save on Lunches challenges and the No Spend Day challenges:

    Jo :)

    Thanks Jo

I have started looking at reducing groceries, mum has told me to ensure everything else is paid and I can always go there for food.

There is not much leeway in the petrol costs, I travel over 25 miles a day to and from work and work shifts so the public transport option is not possible.

    Thanks for your advice though.

I've loving all the advice I have been given here and the advice in other posts, am feeling so much better and feeling less alone.

In the past 5 days I've managed to make a saving of £23.07 from my monthly outgoings, had 3 No Spend Days, saved on 5 lunches, opened a new bank account in readiness for my DMP and earned £106.14 (Pre Tax) by working overtime.

I think I may have selected the wrong option on the SOA, this payment is Mortgage protection insurance.

Doesn't matter what its called - who are you protecting?
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

It is protecting my mortgage payments in the case I get made redundant, have an accident or am taken sick. In the current economic climate I felt I needed to protect myself against redundancy as there are so many companies making redundancies and ceasing trading at the moment. I have looked at the cost of this and have been unable to reduce it.
