Live music/DJ suggestions for Northamptonshire??

Does anyone live in the Northamptonshire/Daventry area? I'm struggling to find any ideas for my evening reception entertainment. I'd love some live music but not sure how far my budget can stretch...
If any of you Google-masters can come up with any ideas, I'd really appreciate it!!

Depends what type of music you like? You could ask at Northampton College, they do a music course and there are bound to be lots of people there in bands that would do cover versions, just depends what type of cover music you want! (thats my MSE suggestion)Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0

What sort of music do you like, and do you have any idea of what you can afford to spend? I book a lot of bands for my motorcycle club rally so have several contacts, but it all depends on what you're after. I usually get cheap deals off them as it's a charity do, and have booked one of the bands for our wedding. They're charging us more than they do for the rally as we're not a charity (!), but considerably less than they usually do for a wedding as that's around the £1,000 mark!
Ask around the people that you know - lots of people have brothers/sisters/friends who are in bands, and the amount you'll pay will vary immensely, from £50 to cover costs if they are local, new and want to get some experience playing live, to the £1,000 upwards. It really does depend on what you want and how polished an act you want it to be.0 -
Oddly enough we were at a do near Daventry last Saturday and Mrs G picked up a card from the band. Probably not your thing though... they were sort of ageing rockers.
£120 a night IIRC.0 -
Thanks for all the suggestions!

As far as budget is concerned, I think it's really only going to be around the £500 mark, maybe a little more. Depends if we then have to pay for a DJ for the rest of the evening as well, but my venue have got a recommended DJ who charges about £250 for four hours. Ideally we're looking for someone who can do a bit of music dring the day and then into the evening, and if we can get away with not having a DJ, that'd be great as I *really* don't want a cheesy wedding disco... (but am trying not to be too Bridezilla about it as I'm aware I don't have a huge budget!)
As for musical tastes/what we're looking for, I think we're going to need someone who can do a wide range of covers, but no cheesy cabaret! I personally have quite a main-stream taste in music, anything from the Foo Fighters to Snow Patrol to McFly (my guilty pop-tastic pleasure!), my fiance is a bit more Rock orientated - AC/DC and the like, plus more up to date stuff, and I think our guests will be happy as long as it's stuff they can dance to!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0
