K Tax code

Options
Hi

Sorry if this has been posted before but just wanted some advice/check that I've got it right.

My brother in law is a lorry driver. Gets no 'perks' from the job (no company car ect) but has been given a K tax code. Is this right or is he paying too much tax.

I have tried to read through the info I can find and what I understand is that yes he is on the wrong code. Really need someone to clarify before he phone HMRC

Thanks

It may be right ...... if HMRC are collecting an underpayment from a previous year?

What does it say on the P2 (Coding Notice) he should have and/or has he been advised of an underpayment?

More simply - he could be a victim of the thousands of erroneous codes issued by the new PAYE system for 2010-11.
