How long is acceptable for delivery?

Just wanted to get some other peoples views on this.

I made an order from amazon for an SD card and some batteries for the camera for when we go on holiday.

I made the order on the 16th of this month, all items in stock and ready for dispatch.

I have still not had the items 14 days on, just looked on my account and they have an estimated delivery of 8th September  I am on holiday then.

Now people shop online for the ease of it, and in a few days it will be here and you save a few quid, but is 3 weeks delivery acceptable? What strikes me is that if you trade on amazon, they expect you to send out within 2 days, yet they cannot apply that to themselves.

What do you think?

I've normally found Amazon to have a fantastic customer service mentality. Have you contacted them about your unhappiness with the length of their delivery time?

No, it’s not acceptable for a big company like Amazon to mess you around like that. However, the The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 give a business up to thirty days to deliver. (And then a further thirty days to return the money, if they fail to deliver.) Unfortunately, it has to cover all businesses. Sixty days is probably fair enough for a one-man business – they could get run over by a truck on the way to post you your purchase. It looks like Amazon have made a cоck up on the inventory front, or supply chain. Go on, have a moan, I’m sure it’ll make you feel better. :)

I have just looked at all the items again but one of them has doubled in price now, I hope they don't try charging me extra for them, I will go mad

I got them to phone me and apparently all my items are out of stock (even though they are classed as instock on site)

Weird how all my order happened to be out of stock

Now I have to try to find a cheap SD card and batteries  Stoopid website :wall:

    I'd call them

If all items are in stock at Amazon, then they generally dispatch immediately  What was the eta on the order confirmation when you placed the initial order?

It sounds as if there may be a problem with your order? When you talk to them, get them to confirm the price too as you should be charged the price as per your confirmation email.

Try 7dayshop, they were really cheap when I wanted a card. They have one p&p rate no matter how much you buy too, so its worth checking out their other stuff like printer cartridges.

I have bought them from ebuyer, it was the cheapest place I could find them and have paid the little extra to get them here on time. Just wish I had done it sooner so that I didn't have to bother with them.

    And I used quidco ;)

Thank you everyone for listening to my moan :D
