will i get jsa?

I have just been made redundant and will be claiming JSA soon as I get my P45. My partner lost his job last march but could not get any JSA as he had not been classed with enough NI contributions, plus I was working more than 24 hours a week. Since July 2009 he registered as a sub-contractor and paid £10 a month NI since then. But he claimed JSA again recently as we needed some money and they still said he hadn't paid enough NI. Now I'm wondering if we will actually get any money when we claim as a couple soon (should be £100 a week for a couple).

If it helps, if I was on my own I would definitely qualify for JSA as I have paid enough NI. But he wouldn't get a penny. Does anyone know if we will get any money?

  • If neither of you are working, and you don't have substantial savings, then you'll qualify for Income Based JSA, which has nothing to do with National Insurance Contributions paid.
