I would expect it to be tender for a few days and then gradually start to improve. You have had minor surgery carried out and also there is broken bone involved. Outside that follow the instructions given by your dentist. You will heal as quickly as your body wants to so not a great deal you can do to hasten it other than relaxing and avoiding what you were told to avoid

Wouldnt say to do it for long period of time but you could take paracetamol in between the doses of nurofen as they're totally different drugs and it's not like doubling up the dose (which is more of an issue with paracetamol alone). I've done that myself and even had a doctor recommend me doing it for my son when he was only a baby. And have you considered trying teething gel/Bonjela type of stuff? Some of them have a mild local anaesthetic so can give a bit more relief

Dont gargle or draw on the tooth when you swish it with warm salt water tomorrow or use straws for a drink, You need to let it heal without putting any pressure on it. And if you smoke - DONT! quickest way to get an infection in a new extraction.

    Good luck.

Strange, i had 5 top teeth out a month ago, dentures put straight in and not a nano second of pain. (afterwards)

The bloody dentures, now, thats another problem, they just dont seem to be able to get them right.
So Im going again this week.

OP just be sensible, no hot drinks and dont 'suck' on the hole.

Immediate dentures are a pain to get right. Its unlikely these WILL be right. The way we make dentures is on a cast replicating the inside of your mouth. This isnt possible as the cast contains the teeth to be extracted. Even if they can alter the cast to be an exact replica of the mouth post extractions ... it wont last. Your mouth and supporting bones will change MASSIVELY over the next 3 - 6 months. Best bet for the time being is remove any areas rubbing and causing ulcers then use fixative until your mouth settles

Eat on the other side of your mouth.
Don't forget you can take ibuprofen and paracetemol at 2-3 hour intervals from each other (so take ibuprofen then a few hours later paracetemol)
Don't suck the hole, it will hurt for a few days (last extraction I had they had to rip the root free as there was an underlying infection in the root - had an abscess before but it cleared up - in getting it out they ripped the gum open)
Corsodyl mouthwash is good, it helps get rid of the bacteria and bits of crap stuck in there and stops an infection developing.
Nothing too hot, or too cold, drink drinks with a straw, use a small spoon for yogurt/soup/soft foods.

The hole can take up to a month to heal up, but don't stick anything in there if food gets stuck, gargle with some water and it usually dislodges it.

Thanks for that, thats just what my dentist said. I already had some missing and the new front ones are perfect, its the back sides (lol)
one side digs in to part of my gum and the other side feels like i have an extra lump so my teeth are clacking. Im tending to tense up my jaw all the time. feels like I need a bit of dremel work on it. lol

If i's any consolation, I had the same tooth remived (big molar, right?) removed just under a week ago...it's healed up pretty well...not a great deal of pain at all, and has done so very quickly, which is a godsend as had root canal on a tooth on the other side yesterday. lol.
