Confession Time...

Hello folks! The guilt of my secret overdraft became too much today and I decided to confess all to my husband. I did it the mature and courageous way...I sent him a text message. I just couldn't face seeing his reaction - I hate hurting him like this because he has been so wonderful in the past about my debts.

Anyway, after a few texts going back and forth in which he assured me that he wasn't angry because he loved me (ahhhh) he told me he had a confession of his own. He was supposed to have given up smoking after the World Cup finished but he has been secretly smoking over at my brother's house! He says he's been feeling so guilty about it because I have been full of praise for him giving up.

What a bloody pair we make! :rotfl:

Anyway, we both feel tons better for getting everything out in the open and I am committed to paying off my overdraft slowly but surely, with the fantastic support of this site. He is going to cut down on his smoking and then give up rather than going cold turkey. Seems a fair compromise. He has never ever smoked around around our son by the way - our house is a smoke fee zone.

Funny old world, isn't it? :p

  • Well done for telling him. I bet it wasn't easy, but at least the added pressure of keeping it a secret is now gone. I bet he feels relieved too to get his little secret off his chest

Well done for telling him your secret, and to him for being honest in reply, rather than taking the moral high ground!

Now you can support each other in what you want to do... have you suggested that he read Allen Carr's book - The Easy Way to Stop Smoking? Its very highly recommended and seems to work for lots of people - perhaps he could get it from the library (very dfw!) and see what he thinks.

Good luck to both of you!!

now you have cleared the air about the overdraft/smoking, it would be a really good time to sit down and draw up a plan to clear all your debts off completely.
why not post a SoA on here and see whether people can help.
