Grampian area of Scotland is the worst in the UK for dental waiting lists - took me almost 4 years to find a dentist, and even then, it's still a way away from where I live.
I am having similar issues with my teeth, so can sympathise. I also had an innane fear of dentists which I got from my mother, who is phobic about them...still, the pain eventually won out, so have been using a regular NHS dentist. I find most are quite good if you explain to them that you're nervous and they'll talk you through what they're doing.
If you still haven't found a dentist, ring the Grampian dental health line (assuming you're in the Grapian area) and see what they can do...explain the situation. Also, press the button for the emergency option otherwise they never bother getting back to you.0
