Tax refund letter

Hello,

Not sure if im posting in the right place as i am a newbie.

Can anyone help i got a letter Friday stating that i had a tax refund they didnt say how much but said it was enclosed seperately however nothing was enclosed and no other letter has arrived.

I have tried calling but spend forever on hold and seem to get nowhere.

has anyone else had the same or have any ideas what is happening?

This well be no help to you BUT
Last summer the self assessment statement computer went into overdrive demanding more money on account. Money that I self evidently would not owe because of a change in circumstances and had not paid.

In September I sent off the 08/09 tax return.

By February/March (you know dated about a fortnight before the postman delivers it) something must have happened because the computer wrote again showing my assumed debt to have radically reduced.
The paperwork promised a calculation under separate cover.

Well I am still waiting.

Got round to writing a letter asking what had happened to my explanation/calculation about 10 days ago. Not expecting any startling speedy response.

The wheels seem to be coming off the system.

Kerrie, I had the same letter last week and yesterday got another letter confirming the exact amount. It now says the cheque is on its way to me. Good luck!

It's pointless 'phoning as that's not going to hasten anything now. I assume this is PAYE and they've now got round to issuing refunds (at last). 'Seperately' means, for security, it's arriving direct from where they have a Zerox cheque printer ...... give it a few days.
