Anyway thats nothing...
Lowells currently hold the title for the most laughable letter award with their classic "buy back your account" letter - in it they say, "If your bid reaches our reserve price then the account is yours" :rotfl::rotfl:
LOL, but I dunno - see this beauty here: #4001
They claim they can get a copy of your credit file now!! How so, exactly? :rotfl:
I had to be clever back, so mentioned this one liner to them (see if they pick up on it):Niddy wrote:you have as much chance as having Elvis coming to your next birthday party as being able to obtain a copy of my credit file.

In all seriousness though....
What is now happening is that all these DCA's now know that the consumer is empowered thanks to sites like this & can simply tell the DCA's to get lost or to prove it etc...
Letters like the one above & like the one that Lowells send out are born out of sheer desperation in my view.
They can see that their grubby industry is in freefall & as a result they are having to resorts to letters like the above...0 -
Absulute Classic :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
CrapQuest made me a similar offer, Letter from MD promised to add £40.00 for each £100.00 I put in. If it wasnt for what I had learned on here I might have gone for it.

The DCA's & the CRA's are best buddies with each other - so when a DCA puts in a request to see someone's credit file, the CRA's are only too willing to assist them sadly.
They are 2 cheeks of the same backside effectivley.
The sooner the authorities clamp down on the whole industry, the happier i will be :mad:0 -

Noooo - lets not start a slander fight.
The CRA's do not do that, seriously I am quite familiar with their practices and this really doesn't happen. What will happen is Lowell will do an unrecorded search (or a trace search which we can have removed as no need to trace is there) - which they will show to the legal team - however all they can see is the type of account and balance and limit - not even the lender name is viewable to them!
Its our personal data protected under the DPA and they goddam know it :rotfl:

Hannah << Signed digitally.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.
