Returning to UK

Coming home after 4 years in Oz , with a firm job contract and 15% deposit for a house, will I be able to get a mortgage and how? Have excellent past credit/mortgage history but will that count anymore, after my absence? Will need a house asap...

Yes you can if you are a UK national.

Did you keep banking/credit ties in the UK?

Did you have post redirected anywhere?

  • Yes, you can get a mortgage. Depends on whether you have maintained any address/financial links to the UK. Also it can be easier to arrange a mortgage before you actually get back to the UK.

Kept a Natwest account open, but it will show very little movement.
Used my mother's address for it (good old mum!). I am still a citizen, just didn't plan on coming back.

That will make things easier, as you will have kept even a minimum amount of credit history active.

You should be able to get a mortgage agreed then.

You can either do this while still abroad, or when back in the UK
