All day parking in Newry

Options
I'm going to an appointment in Dublin with a friend later in the week and we need to go by car as the trains don't run early enough. She would have a horrendously early start if she had to pick me up at home so I thought I could drive to Newry and meet her there. Does anyone know of somewhere that I could leave my car all day safely without being charged a small fortune or getting back to find it has been clamped? We've to be in Dublin by 9am.

  • not sure if there is a charge (i'm thinking no) what about greenbank around Pairc Esler GAA Stadium or Newry showgrounds (these pitches are beside each other) just off the warrenpoint dual carriage way

I know there is a car park here but i'm not sure if it is privately owned.

also what about damolly retail estate newry not sure if there are clampers in operation here but surely the staff in B&Q and the like park in this carpark also

You could also leave the car in the carpark across from the courthouse. They havent started to charge....yet !!!:j
It's a great day for singing a song / It's a great day for moving along / It's a great day for morning to night / It's a great day for everybody's plight.

What about leaving your car on her drive, or wherever it is normally parked when she's not away in it.

Sorry SnowyOwl, I wasn't clear - she's coming from Glengormley and I live near Downpatrick.

I spoke to her this afternoon and she's going to pick me up at home - says she's afraid of getting lost in Newry and doesn't want to arrive at her appointment all stressed out.

Thanks for the very helpful suggestions folks. :)

Ah, OK! I wondered what was going on! If she changes her mind about picking you up I'd say it'd be better to leave one of your cars in a village outside Newry, say Bessbrook. You can leave your car on the street with no parking restrictions or wardens prowling about and don't have to go through Newry to get to it.

The traffic in Dublin in rush hour is notoriously bad, so early start for you both whatever you decide!

You can also park in several areas of the town which are safe to do so. There is a car park in front of Toragh Park, Warrenpoint Road which would be fine to use. It's 1 minute from Pairc Esler on the old 'Point road.
