Hi, does tea tree shampoo strip colour from your hair. I have an itchy scalp and tea tree shower gel suits my body (Original Source) which is also itchy so I want to try the shampoo but don’t want to strip my hair colour.

Does anyone use tea tree shampoo?
I used tea tree shampoo when headlice was going around at work (I work in a playgroup) as I had heard that the lice don't like this product. Not sure if its true or just an old wives tale but I never did get headlice. Although talking about it now makes me feel itchy lol. Anyway I have blonde hair and it didnt do my hair any harm although I only used this shampoo once or twice a week for a while.0 -
One dab of tea tree on the bony bit behind the ears WILL keep headlice at bay
I get paid to smell great :j0 -
My DD has coloured hair (green at the moment) and she finds that using a tea tree shampoo & conditioner caused the colour to fade very quickly, it also made her pre-lightened (bleached) hair go very matted and in poor condition.
She has gone back to using shampoo & conditioner for coloured hair and it's much better.
On the headlice situation, I found that by using the Nitty Gritty comb and a cheapo tea tree conditioner to which I added a few more drops of tea tree oil
the nits & eggs were soon combed out. Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Its the sulfates people- not (just) the tea tree! Sulfates are what fade things!0
