Car allowance without a car

Hi All,

As part of my new job, I have been offered a car allowance. But I dont have a car and I dont intend to buy one. I dont need it for my work.

Does it mean that the car allowance is taxed similar to the salary that I receive?

Are there any other conditions or rules for a "car allowance"?

Thanks for taking a look.

Whether you buy a car or not, a round sum allowance is always taxable. Look on it as an extra bit of salary.

There are no rules about it.
