Please could someone help??? What is the consensus of opinion on this site about buying a car either lease or hire purchase? Or any other suggestions - thanks!

you pays your money you takes your choice.

HP is v straightforward you pay a set number of payments of £X and at the end of the deal the car is yours.

Leasing is similar (ish), you pay set number of payments of £X (which may be lower), but at the end of the term you are likely to be hit with an annual secondary lease charge (all contracts vary) and when you come to sell your vehicle they will want a cut of the sale price.

Leasing works well for some people, but I prefer good old HP for my vehicle purchases. (but like all finance shop around for a good deal).
