If I were you, I would use half of your unaccounted money to pay towards halifax and leave the other half in your account for peace of mind for the next 8 days ,then if you don't use it , put it into your isa on pay day . Well done for being good and saving for the bike0

Think you're right Bookworm, after all what does it need to be there for? Everything is accounted for in 'possibly the most comprehensive spreadsheet in the world ever' and even if there is a dire emergency that has somehow not been considered, it is likely to involve far more significant sums than the couple of hundred quid that is presently soothing my inability to have a big fat zero as my balance and we all know that there is nothing wrong with '0' - it's when it's got a '-' in front of the figure that things are not looking good
Have managed to track down why F*rst D*rect saw fit to take 28p out of my account as 'debit interest up to 20/06/2010'. It is because I moved a cheque payment over too smartly before it had chance to clear, so though my account didn't show as overdrawn, the balance was not technically available to sweep. Mmmmmm fair do's I guess, will have to note that for future reference.
Found a delish 'recipe' for washing up liquid on the old style boards this morning so will soooooo be trying that out - already make the laundry gloop which is fab, so will be hastily grating some more Mr S pure soap for this next project - somebody on there has costed it out at 6p per litre and works as well as the really posh stuff so ker-ching!

Well a very nice surprise awaited me when I returned home last night, a competition win from S*lly H*nsen the nail people, including a toughening solution and a topcoat :j I always fill in competitions when I come across them and this is my first win so am really chuffed.
OH donated 2 x £2 coins last night because he knows I love them so they have been squirrelled away in their own special pot to hopefully reproduce - one can dream
I reckon I'm on target to bring the H*lifax 0% fund in at around £400 by payday, just by tweaking budgets, surveys/m*tch b*ts/o2 goals payout etc so will then be very strong and sweep across what's left in my personal account sometime next week ready for payday on Friday ....... and breath!

Now the eagle-eyed amongst us will have spotted a new addition to my signature in the form of e-bike fund. Allow me to explain, though the concept is all credit to memory girl and her fabulous diary which kept me rivetted all yesterday evening - what an amazing lady she is!
Soooooo, am still very committed to throwing all additional cash at the halifax 0% fund so it can be earmarked as settled in my mind, yet remain sitting around in my ISA earning interest until it's due in March 2011; however in the meantime, I also want to feel as though I've started saving for my ebike as a little psychological boost IYSWIM.
So here's the maths - hope you can keep up! Cost of bike = £899 Number of days from today 19/07/10 to 31/12/10 (realistically last day for ordering before New Year and VAT rising on 4/01/11) = 166, amount needed to be squirrelled away each day is £899/166 = £5.42, so this sum will be moved each day into a separate savings account as a basis for funding my purchase. After I've accumulated all the Halifax money needed, I can divert any further additional cash that comes my way to 'the fund' thus reducing the PBD (purchase by date!)
of 31/12/10 however at the moment I feel quite happy that I've made a start.

Well that happy feeling didn't last very long - am well down in the dumps today
Have made second daily payment to ebike fund but nothing else really to report on the MSE front

Yeah - back again and feeling a bit more chipper, not quite :j but getting there.
Payday tomorrow so had a good old look at the spreadsheets and moved just short of £150 (the previously alluded to 'sitting around doing nothing apart from massaging my insecurities' sum!) across to my ISA to bring the Halifax 0% fund down to £250 outstanding. That bad boy so needs to be gone (or at least the money ear-marked) by the end of August so this is my new short term goal and it's now official as I've written it down!
Not doing too well on the NSD's this month for some reason so need to add that as an even shorter term aim - get 15 NSD's before end of July. Yesterdays potential was ruined due to finding flea on one of the dogs  - very hasty trip to purchase dog and cat flea drops at local hardware shop to sort that out, so they're all (6 in total) wandering around with oily marks on the back of their necks and giving me 'evils' - yeah like I care
Still have £15 in purse left over from this months weekly spends (£40 per month which doesn't have to be entered onto spending diary) Now in true MSE style, this is now supposed to be paid into my credit union savings (via the local co-op how fab!) however am not sure what my salary will be tomorrow, so if it looks a bit stingy, I may just withdraw an additional £25 to make up August's monthly spends - a sort of 'roll-over' if you wish. If it's a decent wadge though the floating £15 can head it's merry way towards it's intended destination. Same with regard the entertainment budget which has £9 left in it - obviously not been very sociable this month- all depends on what my dear employers decide I've been worth.

Good luck with the bike fund
I had the same problem with the Bank of scotland - they told me a DD was set up and then charged me a default payment for missing the manual payment. In theory it is now resolved but the stroppy letters sent 2nd class are not good!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
