I've been doing a fair bit of baking lately and tend to use the margarine that I've got in. But realise there must be a cheaper cooking fat. What else could I use?

I use tesco value butter (53p for 250g) or lard (34p for 500g). They also do value margarines but I haven't tried them.

i always use stork. the hard one for pasty is 250 g for 34p and the soft for cakes etc is 500g for 43p. i always keep loads in as it so cheap.0

I use the Olive spread (supermarket own brand) because I do try and balance money saving with health. Lard, butter, dripping - all high in saturated fats. Cheap marg - has trans fats, which have been linked with heart disease.0
